Our Approach
We design and deliver project-based learning programmes that challenge students to apply their physics, astronomy, and engineering knowledge in hands-on contexts. By connecting students with professionals, researchers, and real-world projects, we enable them to experience first-hand what it means to work at the frontier of science and innovation.
Our Next Chapter
From 2026, PSL will deliver a year-long Satellite Building Programme, where student teams will learn each stage of constructing a CubeSat. With full technical support provided by our organisation, students will be able to incorporate their own creativity, whether in function or design, into a satellite that will ultimately be launched into space.
Why It Matters
Similar initiatives have already succeeded overseas, such as TJHSST’s CubeSat project in the United States. PSL is bringing this opportunity to New Zealand for the first time, giving our students the chance to:
- Apply high school science knowledge in real-world contexts
- Collaborate in teams on ambitious, technically challenging projects
- Contribute to New Zealand’s growing space capabilities
- Witness their own satellites launched into orbit
Our Vision
To make space exploration and advanced science accessible for young people in New Zealand, and to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators.
